Comfy

Being a mum means doing everything twice as fast as before. That's why now it takes me some 3-5 minutes to decide what to wear and put it on. Comfort and layering are key. Especially during daily long walks in the park when the weather is changing fast.

Wygoda i "warstwowanie" to podstawa, oczywiście.

Live more, need less

I mentioned "Stuffocation" here some time ago (CLICK), but only recently I have read the book of trend forecaster James Wallman. This position is very well documented and you can read it almost at one sitting. According to Wallman not only are we surrounded by too much stuff, but but mainly that we are getting tired of consuption. Nowadays, we have an abundance of material goods within our reach. Buying goods, increasing material status, gathering too many useless objects or clothes do not bring us a long-term joy or satisfaction. Reading this book, I was just about to move and decorate my new house. So I had some mixed feelings. On the one hand, a larger space is -especially now - a necessity, but also there is a pleasure resulting from this larger space, nice garden and beautiful items). On the other hand, there was a reflection on these material needs (are they so much needed?).

What does Wallman propose then? He's not calling for minimalism. He does not encourage to radically reduce the number material goods we posess to, for example, 100. He does not promote an attitude of total indifference or even laziness neither. Wallman draws attention to the fact that experiences give us long-lasting sense of satisfaction in comparison to material goods. There are more unique, personalized, just more "ours". Even some not very good experiences stay in our memory as way better than they were in reality. I guess everyone remebers at least one a bit unsuccessful trip, let's say it was raining for two days. What will we remember about it? People with whom we were there, a beautiful view or even great food that we tried there. Basically we will probably remember it as a rather positive experience after all. Can say the same thing about stuff we buy? Not really. A bad purchase is simply a bad purchase. And a good one, too. Our joy will not last long.

What are experiences? It can be a walk, cinema, trip, sport. Of course, it is often associated with buying goods such as, for instance, sports equipment, but in this case they serve as a means to an end, not an end in itself. As usual, I'm curious what your opinions are.

Czytając Stuffocation" byłam właśnie przed przeprowadzką i urządzaniem domu.

7 things

Some time ago I wrote
here about things I love about London. Here's the second part:
  1. Diverse dining - London is not only a melting pot of cultures, ethnicities and languages but also cuisines, which is reflected in amazingly eclectic dining scene.
  2. Colourful doors and brick walls - as you have noticed, many of my pictures are taken by brick walls. I simply love them. As well as beautiful, colourful doors.
  3. Music - Not only every well-known band puts on a concert in London when they're touring through Europe, but also live music played in Soho or Camden bars is just unbeatable. Even Tube buskers are extremally good (actually all the performers have to pass through audition and get a licence to be allowed to play on the Underground).
  4. Stunning views from Primrose Hill, Hampstead Heath, St Paul's Cathedral.
  5. West End Musicals
  6. Pictoresque Regent's Canal with its colourful narrowboats, vibrant Camden Lock and charming Little Venice. A perfect place for a Sunday stroll.
  7. It's not so rainy and foggy as everybody thinks-not only does London get less rain per year (601 mm) than anywhere else in the UK, but even less than Rome (834 mm) and Bordeaux (923 mm)! A famous London fog is a myth too :)
And if you fancy something different? You can get on a train and head to Paris ;) It's just less than 2.5 h away.

Simplemente me encantan.

Z pewnością to tutaj znajdziesz.
  4. Przepiękne widoki z Primrose Hill, Hampstead Heath i St. Paul's Cathedral
  5. Musicale na West Endzie
  6. Malowniczy Regent's Canal-z pływającymi po nim kolorowymi barkami, tętniącym życiem Camden Lock i uroczą Little Venice.
Słynna londyńska mgła to też mit :)
A jeśli mamy ochotę na coś innego? Wystarczy wsiąść do pociągu i za niecałe 2,5 godziny będziemy w Paryżu ;)

Pink Touch

Jacket, shoes: local shops; Blouse: Zara; Trousers: Mango; Bag: Reserved

The outfit that I'm showing you today is formal and classic but, because of the blazer's colour and the dotted print of the blouse, is not that boring. I've had this blazer for two years now and, to be honest, I haven't put it on many times. Its colour is quite bold so the rest of the look is in black and ivory. The blouse is one of my latest acquisitions. I often choose this kind of outfits (trousers+blazer+blouse/top+comfortable shoes) to go to work. What about you?
Have a great rest of the week!

Bluzka to jeden z moich nowych nabytków. Ostatnio kropki to mój drugi, zaraz po kwiatkach, ulubiony deseń. Tego typu zestawienia (spodnie+żakiet+bluzka/top+wygodne buty) najczęściej wybieram do pracy. A Wy?
Życzę miłej reszty tygodnia!

Return to the past

I bought this dress sometime near the end of the previous century. As it almost feels like summer here, I took it out again from my wardrobe. Polka dots are after all a timeless classic!
Lots of kisses!

Pozdrawiam serdecznie!

Polka dots

I didn't take this dress out of my wardrobe many times, but now its time has come. Polka dots are back! As the dress is very girly, I decided to pair it with red booties and studded bag to get slightly rock look. I would have added a leather jacket as well but it was too warm yesterday:) Do you wear polka dots? And rock outfits? Have a nice Sunday!
